Frequently Asked Questions
(and a few answers)
Where is the ceremony and reception?
All wedding events are at Lake Creek Lodge. The ceremony is at Osprey Point near Cabin 9, and cocktail hour and the reception are at Roblay's Garden, located behind Cabin 11. You can view a campus map here. Note that it will take 5-7 minutes to walk between the ceremony and reception sites.
Where should I stay?
At Lake Creek Lodge, with us! Our wedding venue has 22 cabins available to rent for the weekend. Each cabin has a full kitchen stocked with appliances, cookware, dinnerware, as well as propane grills on the decks.
One of the reasons we chose this venue is so that everyone could be together. In the coming months, we will send you an email or text message with your cabin booking code. You can’t book your cabin without it. For more information, visit the Lodging page.
If you cannot or do not wish to stay on site, there are a few hotel options ~20 minutes away in Sisters, Oregon. We will not be reserving a room block or providing transportation to and from any hotels and the venue. Please let us know if you do not plan on staying at Lake Creek Lodge.
What airport should I fly in to?
There are two main options: Portland International Airport (PDX) and Redmond (RDM).
PDX
· A much larger airport, with direct flights to/from Detroit, Minneapolis, Denver, Los Angeles, New York and many other major cities.
· Recently renovated, the nicest airport in America somehow got nicer.
· It’s about a three hour drive to the wedding venue. However! The drive is spectacular, and there is a car rental shuttle at the airport.
Redmond
· Much closer to the wedding venue. About 45 minutes by car (you will need to rent a car or coordinate a ride no matter which airport you fly into).
· Much smaller airport. If you’re flying from LA or Denver, there might be a direct flight, otherwise you will have a connection (most likely in Seattle).
Do I need a car?
Yes! If you're flying in, you'll need to rent a car at PDX or RDM. Our venue is tucked deep into the Deschutes National Forest, so Ubers and Lyfts do not regularly operate in the area.
Free parking is available onsite at Lake Creek Lodge. We suggest coordinating arrival times with others flying in from your home town to share a car rental.
Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?
All wedding events will be outdoors. Our reception will be under a tent, with heat lamps on once it gets cooler in the evening.
What should I wear?
Upscale cocktail hour. No need for a ballgown or a tuxedo, but don’t you always feel better when you look a little dressed up? (Don’t answer that.)
Note that the ceremony is on uneven terrain, the reception is on a grassy lawn, and there's a short walk between the two. Choose your footwear wisely!
We recommend bringing a layer for after sunset - it can get cold in the evenings.
What’s the weather like in Camp Sherman?
Average temperatures in mid-September hover around high 60s to low 70s, with sun and minimal rain. However, it can get quite cold in the morning and evening, with averages between 40-50 degrees. Plan to layer throughout the weekend!
Can I bring my kids?
While we love you and your family, this is an adults-only celebration.
Will there be other events to attend during the wedding weekend?
We're planning an optional activity in the afternoon on Friday, September 19 for those who will be in town - more to come soon!
There will be a welcome event on Friday, September 19 around 8:30pm. More details to come. We can't wait to see you!
Will meals be provided throughout the weekend?
There will be a cocktail hour with appetizers and a sit-down dinner at our reception on Saturday, September 20th.
You'll need to coordinate meals outside of the reception. A few ideas...
Lake Creek Lodge's Coffee Bar is open in the main lodge from 8am-12pm every day, serving coffee, tea, and local pastries.
If you'd like to eat on-property, each cabin has a full kitchen and propane grill. We recommend stopping at a grocery store on your way to the venue in Redmond or Sisters to stock up on groceries, snacks, grilling meats, beverages, etc.
There are dining options in Sisters and Bend, but they require a 20-45 minute drive.
The Camp Sherman Store & Fly Shop is a 4-minute drive from the venue and is a small grocery store and deli.
What should I do, eat, drink, and see while I'm in town?
We’ve got some ideas…
Central Oregon is one of our favorite places, and has so many fun things to do!
Lake Creek Lodge has an onsite swimming pool, hot tub, pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts, canoe rentals, hiking trails. We recommend bringing a bathing suit and some athletic shoes.
There are a few nearby towns with restaurants, shopping, and recreational activities:
Sisters, OR (15-minute drive)
Bend, OR (45-minute drive)
Sunriver (60-minute drive)
Black Butte is a great spot for hiking in the area.
The Suttle Lodge and Boathouse has kayak and canoe rentals.
Smith Rock State Park is an hour or so away from the venue and is spectacular.
The fish hatchery and Metolius River viewing areas are only about 10 minutes from the lodge, and are fantastic, easy-to-reach outdoor activities.
